41 years on roofs · What we've learned about repairs

1 in 4 repair calls we go on are fixing other companies' bandaids.

The math is simple: a $400 patch done right today is a $4,000 deck rebuild prevented in 2 years. The reason repairs fail is almost always shortcuts — wrong nail length, no underlayment, sealed-over flashing. Get it done by someone who'll be back here to stand behind it.

— Roof Repair Questions

The questions homeowners actually ask.

How fast can you respond to an active leak?

We aim for an on-site response within 24 hours for active leaks during business hours. In Delhi or Turlock, a foreman is usually on-site the same day. Across the wider Central Valley, we typically respond within 24 hours. Call (209) 668-6222 and tell us "active leak" if water is currently coming through — we route those calls first.

When is repair the right call vs replacement?

Repair makes sense if your roof is under 15 years old, damage is localized (a few shingles, a single leak source, isolated flashing), and the underlying deck is dry. If the roof is over 20 years old, has widespread granule loss, multiple leak sources, or rotted decking — replacement is the cheaper long-term answer. Our free diagnostic always includes a written replace-vs-repair recommendation. No pressure either way.

Will a third-party repair void my existing roof warranty?

Manufacturer warranties (GAF, Owens Corning, CertainTeed) are typically void only if the repair uses non-spec materials or installation methods. As an OC Platinum Preferred + GAF Master Elite + GAF Gold Elite + CertainTeed Select ShingleMaster contractor, we install to factory specifications and preserve warranty eligibility. Always tell us what brand of shingle is on your roof so we can match the install standard.

Do you patch repairs from other contractors?

Yes — about 1 in 4 of our repair calls is fixing a previous repair from a different roofing company or inexperienced handymen. We don't bash other contractors; we just diagnose what's wrong and quote the correct fix. If the previous repair was structurally sound but used the wrong flashing or sealant, we patch on top. If the previous repair caused additional damage (water trapped under shingles, etc.), we explain the tear-back required to do it right.

Do you handle insurance claims?

Yes. We document storm damage with drone imagery, meet your adjuster on-site, provide detailed scope reports, and negotiate scope with the insurer when needed. Hail and wind claims typically close 4–6 weeks from the damage event. The scope documentation is free and standard with the quote — we charge for the installed repair, not the paperwork.

How long does the repair warranty last?

One to two years on workmanship for all repairs (shingle replacement, flashing, valley, ridge). One year on single-source leak patches where the patch material is bonded to older substrate (less reliable longevity). All warranties are written, transferable to the next homeowner, and registered in your name with the manufacturer where applicable.

Can I just put a tarp on it until you get here?

If it's currently raining and water is coming inside, yes — a tarp is a reasonable stop-gap. Use sandbags or 2×4s to weight the edges (not nails through the roof). Snap a photo for the inspector. If the leak is severe, call (209) 668-6222 directly and tell us "active leak." Don't climb on a wet roof yourself — most homeowner roof injuries happen on wet surfaces.

What ZIP codes do you serve for roof repairs near me?

We service 18 cities across Stanislaus & Merced counties. Common Central Valley ZIPs include 95350, 95351, 95355, 95356, 95357, 95358 (Modesto), 95380, 95382 (Turlock), 95301, 95348 (Merced), 95307 (Ceres), 95361 (Oakdale), 95366 (Ripon), and 95315 (Delhi/HQ). Outside this footprint, call and we'll route to the closest crew.

When You Need It

When to call us for roof repair.

Active leaks, missing or lifted shingles after wind events, granule loss visible from ground level, valley flashing corrosion, cracked pipe boots, and storm-damaged sections all signal that targeted repair work is the right intervention. Most California homeowners need expert roof repair every 8-15 years on shingle roofs, more often on aging tile roofs where underlayment has reached its 25-year service window.

Materials & Methods

Roof Repair materials & systems we install.

Common roof repair scopes. Partial shingle replacement, matching existing granule color when possible. Pipe-boot replacement with new flashing collars. Valley flashing replacement using galvanized or copper. Ridge cap repair after wind damage. Skylight re-flashing. Chimney counter-flashing. Each repair is documented with before-and-after photos for your warranty file.

Process & Timeline

What to expect — our roof repair process.

Our roof repair process starts with a free on-site inspection. We photograph every issue and create a written scope. For non-emergency repairs, we usually schedule within 3-5 business days. Most repairs finish in one day. We carry common materials in our trucks — pipe boots, valley flashing, ridge caps, and shingle bundles. That keeps single-day jobs single-day.

Cost Factors

Roof Repair cost in California.

Roof repair pricing depends on scope: small repairs (single pipe boot, isolated shingle replacement) usually run $350-$800. Mid-scope repairs (valley flashing replacement, multi-area patching) run $800-$2,500. Larger structural repairs involving deck damage, many sections, or full-side re-shingling can range $2,500-$7,500. We use flat-rate pricing — no surprise change orders. For California-specific pricing details, see our roof repair cost guide.

What sets us apart

Why homeowners choose us for roof repair.

Certifications — top 1-2% of installers nationwide

Most local roofers can install the materials. Few can register the manufacturer warranties that protect those installations for 25-50 years. As an OC Platinum Preferred contractor (top 1% of Owens Corning installers nationwide), we register Platinum Protection warranties that cover both materials and workmanship for life, with no proration over time. As a GAF Master Elite contractor (top 2% of GAF installers), we register Golden Pledge warranties that cover 50 years of materials plus 25 years of workmanship. None of these warranty tiers are available through uncertified contractors.

Audits keep the certifications honest

Each manufacturer maintains the certification only if our install quality and review scores stay above their thresholds. As a result, we can’t cut corners on material grade, install method, or finish quality — the manufacturers track every job we register. We’ve held OC Platinum Preferred since 2008 and GAF Master Elite for over a decade.

W-2 crews, factory-trained

The crew matters as much as the certifications. Our repair crews are W-2 employees of Econo Roofing — not subcontractors — and each crew member completes annual factory training from GAF, Owens Corning, and CertainTeed. The difference between a 25-year roof and a 35-year roof comes down to install detail: proper underlayment lap, correct nail placement and depth, sealed flashing, adequate attic ventilation. Mario or Brian personally reviews every project scope before work begins and walks the finished roof before the crew leaves.

Bonded, insured, family-owned since 1996

We stand by our work financially. We carry $1 million general liability insurance and full workers comp coverage, plus a $25,000 CSLB contractor bond. License #749551 — verifiable at CSLB.ca.gov. We’re Latino-owned, family-owned, and operated since 1996: same family, same standards, deep roots in the Central Valley. That permanence matters when you’re investing in 30-50 years of weatherproofing.

Flat-rate pricing, no surprises

Pricing is flat-rate. We quote the project, you approve the project, and that’s the price. No change orders mid-project unless you change the scope. No surprise charges. No upselling once the crew is on the roof. Free written estimates with no obligation. Call (209) 668-6222 to reach the same team that has been doing this work for 30+ years.
